Letter of Inquiry

Some Funders require a letter of inquiry (LOI) before any grant application is submitted. This letter should briefly describe the organization, contain a descriptive title for the project, dollar amount requested, why funds are needed, current funders and amount of support, project budget and what will be accomplished if funding is received. This process is not accepted online.  You must submit the LOI to the appropriate Funder and receive confirmation from the Funder to submit a grant request.  Letters of inquiry are accepted at any time and all letters will be acknowledged.

The following Funders require a letter of inquiry:

Carnahan-Jackson Foundation
Gebbie Foundation, Inc.
Judith J. Anderson Family Foundation
The Lenna Foundation

After reviewing the letter of inquiry, the Funder will determine whether a potential match exists between the funding priorities of the Funder and the proposed project.  At this time you will receive confirmation to submit an online grant request.  It should not be assumed that such a request is an indication of funding.

Cover Letter

The following Funder requires a cover letter to accompany the grant application:

Ralph C. Sheldon Foundation, Inc.
Holmberg Foundation

This letter should include a project summary and the amount requested.  This letter needs to be signed by the Executive Director and the Board President, to indicate board approval of the grant request.  This process is not accepted online.  You must submit the cover letter to the appropriate Funder.
